The 2021 Ford Ranger has debuted as the most off-road-capable factory-built Ranger ever to hit the mainstream auto market in the United States. This is thanks to the all-new Tremor Off-Road Package that is an available optional add-on package for the all-new 2021 Ranger pickup truck.

The Ford Ranger is an iconic pickup truck that is renowned for its power, capability, and everyday drivability. Unlike the Ford F-series trucks that are powerful and capable but primarily used as work trucks, the Ford Ranger is an ultra-versatile truck that is designed for anything from hauling to off-roading to everyday driving over standard city streets.

Plus, it is decked out with a state-of-the-art infotainment system, advanced safety and driver-assist features, and a host of amenities that make this pickup truck one of the most versatile options on the auto market. Many of the Ranger’s features, including its payload and fuel efficiency, are either best-in-class or close to best-in-class.

For the 2021 model year, Ford has stepped up its game with the Tremor Off-Road Package that is an available addition to maximize the off-roading capability of the 2021 Ranger model. Keep reading to learn more about the Ranger Tremor and how it builds on the off-roading-ready features of the 2020 Ranger model for the 2021 model year.

2020 Ranger Off-Road Capability

The Ford Ranger has always been a versatile pickup truck. Its 2020 model is available with multiple different adventuring packages that boost its off-roading capability to various levels. These packages include the Ford Performance Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Packages as well as the all-inclusive FX4 Off-Road Package.

The FX4 Off-Road Package is the most impressive and versatile of the Performance Packages that were available for the 2020 Ford Ranger. This package was designed specifically to make the Ranger as off-roading-ready as possible without sacrificing its everyday drivability.

Every 2020 Ranger is built with a high-strength steel frame, steel frame-mounted bumpers, and a chassis built specifically for off-roading. This midsize pickup truck also includes an electronic shift-on-the-fly system that allows drivers to shift between two-wheel drive and either high or low four-wheel drive with the turn of a dial in order to make driving over severe terrains more effortless for Ranger drivers.

The FX4 Off-Road Package adds tuned off-road monotube shocks, all-terrain tires with special off-roading-ready tread, electronic-locking rear differential for enhanced traction, and various heavy-duty skid plates to the 2020 Ranger.

This package also equips the 2020 Ranger with Ford’s Terrain Management System and Trail Control. The Terrain Management System allows drivers to select between four different drive modes—Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand—and automatically calibrates engine responsiveness and transmission gearing to enhance safety and performance across all terrains.

Trail Control is a special driver-activated cruise control system that keeps your Ranger at a steady speed while also managing the throttle and individual-wheel braking—depending on the terrain—so that you can focus on the fun parts of off-roading like steering.

What the Tremor Off-Road Package Adds to the 2021 Ranger

The Tremor Off-Road Package builds on the features that are already included within the FX4 Off-Road Package. When applied to the 2021 Ranger, this package makes the all-new 2021 Ranger more off-roading-ready than ever before without disrupting its everyday drivability. This means that you can effortlessly maneuver city streets, parking lots, and other everyday driving scenarios in your 2021 Tremor-equipped Ranger model—and you can also traverse more severe off-road terrains with ease.

2021 Ranger Tremor models come equipped with a lifted suspension and A/TX all-terrain tires. The Tremor Off-Road Package also increases the approach angle, departure angle, breakover angle, and front and rear suspension travel of this off-road-ready midsize pickup truck. It also features monotube dampers, rear piggyback reservoirs, and front Coilover and rear leaf springs that are specially tuned for off-roading.

The 2021 Ranger Tremor is also one inch wider than the base-model 2021 Ranger and features exclusive style features including special Magnetic-painted wheels, rear recovery hooks, hoop-style steps, a painted grille, black interior accents, and Miko suede seats.
