The Correct Way to Safely Jump Start Another Car

To safely get a car jump-started, you only need jumper cables, gloves, glasses, and a car with a good battery. Bring the nose of the one car to the nose of the car needing a jump. Open the hood, turn off the engine, turn off the car lights, put on your gloves and safety goggles.

Take the jumper cables, place the red ends to the positive terminal on the good battery, followed by the bad battery. Take one black cable, attach to the negative on the good car battery. The other black cable goes to any metal surface on the car needing a jump. Now it is safe to start the car, every few seconds you can rev the engine to speed up the charging process. Once the car starts, simply remove all the cables in the opposite order.

Come over to Valu Ford and Chrysler so we can properly test the car battery for signs of serious charging issues.
