2018 Ford Expedition Unveiled at Chicago Auto Show

Earlier this year, Ford unveiled a brand-new, fully redesigned Ford Expedition at the Chicago Auto Show. What's new with this full-size SUV?

Ford is slow to release exact specs for the next-generation Expedition, which is due to arrive at Valu Ford and Chrysler sometime this fall. Rumors abound about the increased horsepower and torque on the 3.5-liter V6 engine it shares with the F-150, but mum's the word officially.

What we do know is it will be 300 pounds lighter, owing to its new aluminum body—another move taken right out of the F-150's playbook. Since the auto show, Ford has also revealed the 2018 Expedition's maximum tow rating is 9,300 pounds.

Aesthetically, the 2018 Expedition looks similar to the Ford Explorer—a deliberate attempt to make the Expedition more SUV-like, and less like a truck.

Interior amenities reflect its family lifestyle. Its three rows of seating are made even more spacious by increased wheelbase and length, and each row has access to two USB ports and 120-volt outlets. It even offers a built-in modem for generating a Wi-Fi hotspot.
